Privacy Policy

Corker is a trading name of CyProtec Ltd (“Corker”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in the United Kingdom. Corker is a mobile app that recommends wine pairings from a restaurant’s wine list. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it plain and honest — the same way the app works.

The short version: We collect the minimum we need to run the app — your account email, the wine notes and ratings you choose to save, and your location only when you search for nearby restaurants. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. You can delete your account and all its data from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address, and — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the name and email those services share with us. You can use Apple’s “Hide My Email” to keep your address private. Authentication is handled by our provider, Clerk.
Content you create. The wines you log in “My Cellar”, including ratings, tasting notes, drinking dates, wishlist flags, and where you drank them.
Taste preferences. Lightweight, aggregated signals about the wine styles and regions you engage with, used to personalise your recommendations. These are bounded tallies, not a detailed profile.
Location. If you allow it, your device location is used only while you’re using the app to find restaurants near you. We don’t track your location in the background or store a location history.
Camera and photos. If you photograph a menu or a wine label, that image is processed to read the text on it. We use it to provide the feature you asked for; we don’t use your photos for anything else.
Basic technical data. Standard information needed to operate a networked app, such as your requests to our servers. We do not use advertising identifiers.

How we use your information

To provide the core service: reading wine lists and generating pairing recommendations for your dish.
To save and show your cellar, ratings, and wishlist.
To personalise highlights such as your “Top Pick” (personalisation informs recommendations but never replaces the honest sommelier judgment behind value and discovery picks).
To find restaurants near you when you search.
To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of trusted service providers (“sub-processors”) purely to run the app:

Each provider is permitted to use your data only to perform its service for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Account → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your cellar, taste preferences, and account record from our systems. Photos you capture are processed to provide the feature and are not retained as part of your profile.

Security

Access to the app is protected by authenticated sign-in, and data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under UK GDPR and EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us at privacy@findacorker.com and we’ll help. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

International transfers

We’re based in the UK and our database is hosted in the EU. Some of our providers may process data in other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

Children

Corker is about wine and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age required in their region. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
